Pregnancy Exercise – Tai Chi

There is never a more important time to stay fit than during pregnancy, and Tai Chi is one of the most recommended routines, due to the gentler side of the routine and is considered safe for the full duration of pregnancy.

What is Tai Chi?

Tai Chi is perfect for beginners who are not used to exercising, due to slow-moving, low-impact routines that not only exercises the body but also contributes to the basic health of your mind and spirit, and helps to reduce stress, improve overall health and contribute to the feeling of inner peace. Tai Chi is often referred to as “meditation in motion,” which basically means you meditate as you exercise.

Benefits of Tai Chi during Pregnancy:

Tai Chi can help the mother–to-be deal with the physical side of pregnancy, helping to relieve back pain, swelling in the feet and hands, and especially by preventing excess weight gain. Tai Chi can also help prepare for labor and delivery by strengthening the body.

Stress and worry are always a part of pregnancy and Tai Chi can help with all the life changes the mother is experiencing. Breathing and meditation techniques help for relaxation and the feeling of a more balanced and centered world. After a period of time doing Tai Chi, the feeling of being more in control of thoughts and reactions just naturally take over.
